This is my first videoed reading of my new novella, Fugue in Green. It has received great reviews. This novella was written during NaNoWriMo 2012! It kind of wrote itself. I am happy with this little book.
The Quattro Launch was fabulous - crowded, a great line-up of authors and their books, a fun night.
So far, I have 8 reviews of Fugue in Green, and the reviewers all like the book! Ok, at present they are reviews by my friends, who are all authors, which floors me and blows me away - I can't believe how wonderful people are! I am humbled and grateful before them. I have all the reviews collected, and readable in screens that open on the page, on my FIG webpage.
The cover is a detail of my 5' x 5' painting, Charcoal Poems.
Quattro produced a beautiful book, the paper is good vellum, the print is dark, and there is a full line between each indented paragraph, making the reading experience quite wonderful. You can buy a copy from Indigo Books in Canada (Amazon Canada is charging more than the book costs), and Amazon in the US (where they are priced correctly and are a bit cheaper due to the exchange rate). There's also Quattro Books, but they're a small press and it might take awhile to receive a copy purchased there. Though if you want to put in a larger order, definitely contact them to see about the price. I also sell them - so connect if you're in Toronto.
The full launch video of all the authors whose books Quattro launched on January 31, 2918 is at my Poetry and Music Salons channel.
Photos from a rehearsal of Deepti Gupta's 'Snow Angels' Kathak dance performance

Deepti Gupta's 'Snow Angels' Kathak Indian dance performance will be performed in Peterborough this weekend. IM her for more details. I was the photographer for the flyer. And I include a gif I made of their beautiful dance during a rehearsal last Fall. Last week I dropped in on a rehearsal, and had fun processing a few of the photos after I finished my work today - photoshop is like snack food, nothing relaxes me as much, I so enjoy playing with images.
Little sketch from Tom’s Urban Folk Art Salon where Nadia featured & was fantastic. The colouring is not bad – but the detail in such a small size with .5mm or 1.0mm ballpoint pens...! @nadiahighmusic #Toronto #urbansketchers #ballpointpen #colorink #figurativedrawing #art #art_dailydose #instaart #artist #sketchbook #sketchoftheday #sketching #sketch #sketch_daily #draw #drawing #artistoninstagram #moleskine #moleskinesketchbook
Ballpoint sketch of Nadia High @nadiahighmusic performing at the Urban Folk Art Salon in #Toronto. I want to fiddle with the drawing & may overdo it. So here’s the original, which took 10min. 3.5”x5.5”. #urbansketchers #ballpointpen #colorink #figurativedrawing #art #art_dailydose #instaart #artist #sketchbook #sketchoftheday #sketching #sketch #sketch_daily #draw #drawing #artistoninstagram #moleskine #moleskinesketchbook
H.D. (Hilda Doolittle) later in life - from a photograph. I used a crude $2. bamboo reed pen, which I probably shouldn’t have, it blots and delivers too much ink at whim, and normally I like how using it refuses too neat a drawing, but can’t say if it worked here, and a dip pen to finish. Part of a project.
The most fabulous and my first birthday party ever! March 7, 2018 at Pauper's Pub in Toronto. Spectacular and so loving I am still quite overwhelmed (about 60 people came, wow!!). It couldn't have been better! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to share this special day with me. Much love!
Thanks to my brother, Allan Clews, and my son, Adrian Henderson, for all their help, and John Oughton, for snapping the pics. (They are a bit blurry because I increased the exposure by 1 stop for the darkened room and then forgot that the camera must be held very still. Ah well, I love the photos and am so glad I have them!)
Birthday Bash/Book Launch, Wed March 7, 7-9pm, Pauper's Pub, upstairs

My Birthday Bash/ Book Launch is this week, Wednesday, March 7th, 7-9pm at Pauper's Pub (upstairs in the back, a lovely secluded area that seats 60-80 people), 539 Bloor St W (by Bathurst Stn and next to a Municipal Parking lot) in Toronto. Come have dinner and drinks or just drinks and talk, chat, mingle, enjoy each other's company. I only intend to read for about 10 minutes - and my books, Fugue in Green, newly published by Quattro Books, and Tidal Fury, with Guernica Editions, will be available (each one singly is full price, and I'm offering a 25% discount on getting both together). I'll be reading only for about 10 min since what I most wish for is a party for all of us, a social evening for our community of writers and singer-songwriters. How often do we get together just to hang out and have a good time? No gifts - you are the gift. p.s. Excuse the crazily-overdone flyer, I got carried away in Photoshop and every balloon and heart is a different layer! Now that's pure silliness.

The latest TTC Subway crop: the first one on 6"x9" tan paper (pen is unforgiving, and the cross-hatching on her left cheek isn't quite right, but, hey, just a transit drawing); the latter two on 3½"x5½" cream paper. I do like working in the small book - more discreet. Disclaimer: These resemble the folks who inspired them but are not accurate renderings since either they got off the train or I did before I was finished the drawing and so relied on memory.
Later: It looks like I forgot to upload a couple more transit sketches.
The last page shown here is what happened when, unknown to me, I used water on one of the sketches... it soaked through with the ink and ruined a few pages back. So I did a few more sketches in the Strathmore toned grey, and then bought a new sketchbook, and another smaller one.
